A local favorite of mine in Rutherford County is this gorgeous piece of history, Salem United Methodist Church. The congregation of this church was founded in the home of Thomas Jarratt in 1812 by Thomas King and John Manley. After they grew too large for house meetings, they collected funds to build a log cabin in 1814. When that was too small they built a brick building and then built yet another brick building in 1903. An original brick wall is still located within the structure of the current church. When coronavirus isn’t social distancing everyone, this church still meets today 208 years later!
