This is possibly the oldest house still around in Columbia, Tennessee. The Doctor’s House was built in 1815 by Dr Dorrell N. Sansom who was a highly cultured graduate of Princeton College. He later wed and settled in Maury County, Tennessee when he had this home built. Nathan Vaught, a well-known builder in the area, was involved in its building process. In 1830, Sansom moved to Mount Pleasant and built a new home there. This one still stands in its beauty over 200 years later!
