Historic Fisk University Jubilee Hall

This beautiful and larrrrrrge building is the Fisk University Jubilee Hall. Fisk University was founded in 1865 through the antislavery efforts of the American Missionary Association. Their goal was to abolish slavery, educate African-Americans in liberal arts, and spread Christian values. They raised the money for this building by sending the Fisk Jubilee Singers on a European tour in 1873 and it was built with the proceeds in 1876! While the inside of the building has changed quite a bit over the years, there is still a HUGE floor-to-ceiling portrait of the orginial Fisk Jubilee Singers on display inside. Get this, it was given to the university by Queen Victoria during the 1873 tour!
