The Corners Dates Back to 1829

The Charles Ready House or more commonly known as “The Corners” was built around 1829 in Readyville, Tennessee. He was the first to settle the area and the town itself is named for him. The house was called “The Corners” because of its location in the corner of two crossing roads. In 1836 when Cannon County was formed, the line separating Cannon and Rutherford County was drawn right down the middle of the home’s main hall! It’s still like this today.โฃ

This home is quite large and stately for it’s time. Most in this area were less sophisticated in design in the early 19th century. This federal-style brick house welcomed several famous visitors in its time including presidents Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk, and Martin Van Buren. It was used as military headquarters for a time during the Civil War.โฃ

It’s a Bed and Breakfast as well as wedding venue. It was for sale for $$749,900 but I think it has sold since then.
