The congregation was formed in the early to mid 1800s and was built on land granted to Revolutionary veterans in 1783. The original structure was a log building that was used for both a church and a school. This building was later constructed in 1899 and dedicated in 1900.
It was declared that “Bethlehem Church is one of the finest country churches in this part of the state. It is beautifully finished, and furnished with comfortable, modern, oak pews and will be a suitable house of worship for its congregation for probably sixty years to come.” I’d say it made it a little more than 60 years!
