Historic Home Has New Purpose

Oak Place in Huntsville, Alabama was built in 1840 by renowned Huntsville architect George Steele. It had 320 acres with the property when built. Designed as a restrained Greek Revival, it has a large ballroom with 14 foot ceilings and is actually 3 stories which includes a basement. It was occupied by Union troops during the Civil War and served as headquarters during the Spanish-American War. It’s been owned and used by the East Huntsville Baptist Church since 1960.
