The John Gordon House is located in Williamsport, Tennessee. It was built in 1818 and was reputed at the time to be one of the finest in the country. It was the first private brick building within a 30-mile radius. John Gordon was born in Viriginia in 1763 and came to Nashville in 1786. He held many titles including Justice of the Peace, Postmaster, and Ferry Boat Operator. While he was away in 1818, his wife has this home built. He returned home in 1819 and became very ill and died leaving behind his wife and large family.
