This is the beautiful Valentine Square also known as the Alexander-Collins House in Winchester, Tennessee. In 1835, the Winchester Female Academy was founded. It was a brick two-story building that was later a free school, and eventually was burned to the ground by a disgruntled pupil in 1894. Smith Morgan Alexander purchased the lot and demolished the remains of the school and built this home partially on the foundation of the school. This final frame structure was built in 1899 and named Valentine Square after Alexander’s daughter, Mary Valentine Alexander. I’ve been wanting to see this one for a while and finally got my chance. It’s spectacular!
