The Thompson-Brown House in Maryville, Tennessee was possibly built in the late 1790s by Alexander McKee. Local traditions suggest the date and the building construction is consistent with that. The first record of the house is a birth that occured in this home written in a letter by William Thompson in 1823. Either way, the home is the oldest in the city of Maryville!
It’s a traditional log cabin and is in wonderful shape for its age! The Brown family added weatherboarding around 1867 so that it wouldn’t look so much like a log cabin, but sorry Browns. It still does! It’s now the Blount County Historical Museum. As you can see they were having a museum fundraiser.
