Historic Country Club in Georgia

Here’s a unique one for you today. The Jekyll Island Club was founded in 1886 as a place for members to enjoy hunting and recreation. The club was a thriving place for families and hosted some of the world’s wealthiest including the Rockefellers and Vanderbilts. After World War II, it closed due to difficulties. The state tried to reopen it as a resort in 1971 and once again, it struggled. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972 and was opened to the public as a luxury resort hotel in 1985. Its Queen Anne style architecture is so beautiful!
