This tiny little church in Eagleville, Tennessee may not look like much, but would you believe that it was established in 1794? That’s 2 years before Tennessee even became a state! The church and graveyard are built on a land grant issued to Captain John Byler in 1810. The recorded minutes of the church began in 1821, but it’s believed that a log structure was contstructed on this site in 1800. This church is thought to have been burned during the Civil War and rebuilt around the same time. The cemetery on the property has gravestones that date back to the late 1700s.
