This mammoth of a house is on the infamous Kilpatrick Row in Bridgeport, Alabama. It was built in 1892 along with 7 other homes very similar to itself. Each one divided in the center to house two families. The first of their kind in the south. There are only 6 of the 8 still standing. All the homes are Queen Anne Victorians and have large cone-shaped turrets. Frank J. Kilpatrick was a real estate investor from New York and envisioned Bridgeport becoming the “New York of the South”. It’s far from that these days, but there is plenty of history still to be seen when driving around this little town. Kilpatrick Row is a must-see if you’re in the area!
