Walnut Grove, in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee was originally built in 1824, but burned and was torn down in 1857. The current structure was completed the following year in 1858. The only surviving piece of the original estate was the detached kitchen, built in 1824, which still stands today on the property. It’s the oldest brick structure in the area. The home was built for Sabrina Boddie Lawrence and was once used as a dormitory for the Episcopal School for Boys.
