Edgefield Historic Neighborhood

Here’s another lovely home in the Historic Edgefield neighborhood.

Neil S. Brown, who was governor of Tennessee from 1846-1850, is credited with naming Edgefield. He was inspired by a view of distant fields encircled by woods. He built his home in the neighborhood in the 1860s. It was known as “Idlewild” and was unfortunately razed in 1936.
