I rounded the corner on my way to Lynchburg, Tennessee to find this place quietly sitting off the side. Most people probably don’t even notice it because it’s surrounded by pasture and farm land, but I did a double take when I laid eyes on those chimneys. I decided I would stop on my way back home and see if I could get a few pictures. โฃ
When I came back through, there it was again. This time on my left. I spoke with the owner who, at the time, was prepping his lawn mower for the first big mow of the season. I couldn’t help but appreciate that he wanted to take care of this piece of history and the yard surrounding it. He didn’t know much history about the home, but the one tidbit he did have was that this place was a filming location for the movie “The Green Mile”. It’s been years since I had seen that, but it vaguely rang a bell. I decided I would research the place later.โฃ
He said “sure, take all the pictures you’d like”, and I giddily (is this a word?) walked out front until the entire house came into view. The smell of manure was strong as there was a large herd of cows just a couple hundred feet away. I snapped some pictures and then I left the man to his mower and drove away. โฃ
I never did find any history on this home, but I looked up its part in the movie and found this still. I’m not sure if they added onto the house just for the movie or if that was original and now doesn’t exist. My guess would be that it wasn’t original to the house. It normally bothers me when I can’t find any info to research a house, but for some reason, I was at peace just knowing this place still stands. That this pretty old place has survived there off to the side and surrounded by a herd of cows. โฃ
