I adore the beautiful front porch on this old Franklin home. This is the Todd-Bibb House, built in 1884. It was built for Mattie Todd on, at the time, 11 acres of land. That beautiful front porch was a later addition! This house contributes to the Hincheyville Historic District.
Hincheyville was the very first subdivision in the town of Franklin. Where does a name like Hincheyville come from? It was named for Hinchna Petway who bought the land and subdivided it into lots in 1819. Hinchna was a wealthy merchant from Alabama who saw the potential in the new town of Franklin. Most structures in this historic district were built between 1828 and the 1930s and that explains the diverse styles of architecture that you’ll find driving through this neighborhood!
