There’s a small town in Tennesse you may have never heard of. It’s over in Perry County just spitting distance from the Buffalo River and a stone’s throw from the Tennessee River. Linden has about 1200 folks that call it home, but even more that visit and come to enjoy what this small town has to offer. Floating the Buffalo is always a favorite for most, but you know I typically find the old stuff.
I recently ended up in Linden and was initially drawn to this old car which led me to the Commodore Hotel. The hotel was built in 1939 by Robert Kittrell Staley and was originally known as The Staley Hotel. Just above the front door you can still see the words “Stayley Building 1939”.
The current owners saved this old building from the wrecking ball in 2007 and have been making this a home away from home for visitors ever since. The cafe once called The Staley Cafe is now the Commodore Cafe and the hotel has 19 rooms. The staff here was wonderful and I can only imagine that a stay here would be a nice one. I was told that each room is a little different than another. Shoutout to Cliff and the Dumonts for all of your help!
