The oldest home in the Pleasant Historic District of Mt. Pleasant is Manor Hall. It was built in 1859 for Martin Luther Stockard. It still has it’s detached one and a half story brick kitchen in the back!
In June of 1874, Stockard was taking a stroll on his front lawn when he was attacked by an unknown assailant. He later died from his wounds.
This home is still very much a treasured part of this community and has concerts called Music on the Porch during the summer months.
