One of the prettiest homes in the southern Middle Tennessee area is this one in Fayetteville!
The Hugh Bright Douglas House was built in 1894. Steamboat Gothic architecture. Mr. Douglas owned a 1,000 acre farm about 3 miles from this home and had all the hardwoods cut from that farm, transported to Nashville to be milled and hand carved, and then brought back to this home for installation. His grandfather was one of the area’s earliest settlers.
The historic picture was taken the year it was completed in 1895. *Courtesy of the NRHP.
