The Pleasant M. Craigmiles House was built in 1866 as a very grand Italianate. Mr. Craigmiles was noted for his economic and cultural contributions to Bradley County. The second picture is from 1870 and is what it would have looked like when the Craigmiles family lived here.
The tower is a full story and the home contains 12, yes 12 fireplaces!
In 1922, the home was donated by the Johnston family to be used as a library in memory of Sarah Tucker Johnston. Her portrait hangs in the front foyer.
