The historic Donnelly House was built in 1905 for James W. Donnelly. He was an industrialist, manufacturer, real-estate developer, philanthropist, and civic leader in Birmingham. After he retired from Proctor and Gamble in Cincinnati, he came to Birmingham and built this massive Georgian-Colonial mansion. It has over 12,000 square feet and white marble floors.
It was home to the Birmingham Civic Ballet in the 50s and is currently an event venue specializing in weddings and receptions. It’s been on the National Register as part of the Highland Avenue Historic District since 1975.
