This Frankfort, Kentucky home is believed to be one of the oldest in the city. It dates back to 1832 and is known at the Taylor-Compton House. It’s located right across the street from the Old State Capitol Building. It was also owned by the Lutkemeiers who were German imigrants and druggists in the 1860s.
When the cast iron filigree detailing became popular, porches like the one here were added to some of the older buildings in Frankfort. Reminds me of New Orleans!
I wondered if this home has any connection to the E.H. Taylor, who was a founding father of the bourbon industry, but couldn’t find anything. If anyone knows, be sure to share!
