John L. Wisdom House – Jackson

This incredible brick home in Jackson, Tennessee is commonly known as the Wisdom House. It was built by John L. Wisdom in 1880 for he and his wife after they married the previous year. He was head of construction and oversaw every detail of the home’s building process.

This house has a fireplace in every major room and four large chimneys that pretty much command attention from the exterior. There is a Victorian garden across the street from this home that has been dedicated to May Cox Oglesby (wife of Ray Wisdom) who resided in the house until 1990. She was described as โ€œa proud, strong, and self-reliant person.โ€

If you look real close, you can still see the word wisdom imprinted into the front curb!
