Victorian in Lieper’s Fork

There’s a little village (when I say little, I mean about 650 folks) just west of Franklin, Tennessee called Lieper’s Fork. It hasn’t always been called that though. It started out as Benton Town, named for Thomas Hart Benton who served in the Tennessee Legislature and later as a US Senator from Missouri. The Bentons left for Missouri and it was then named Hillsboro after all of the families settling here from Hillsboro, North Carolina.

Located on a large fork of the Harpeth River, the original land was granted to Captain James Lieper and the creek named after him. They eventually settled on the name Lieper’s Fork about 1818 when a post office was established here. This was to avoid confusion as there was already another Hillsboro in Coffee County.

This Victorian home is located in the picturesque little village and was built in 1891. It’s now carries on as The Spa at Lieper’s Fork. Y’all know I’m a fan of gingerbread and this house fits the bill! Just look at that porch railing!
