The Fosterville Church of Christ is part of the little community known as Fosterville. And while it used to be a major shipping hub for Rutherford County, the address is actually a Bell Buckle one these days.
The church was built in 1886 on land donated by Harb Gilmore. E. A. Elam, president of David Lipscomb College, preached at the church’s dedication in 1889.
The church has survived hard times over the years. A couple of cyclones in 1890 and 1923 took out several of the community’s staple businesses and buildings. It’s always incredible to see what survives and doesn’t in these old communities!
