Hugh Bright Douglas House

The Hugh Bright Douglas House in Fayetteville was built in 1894. This home was built with a rare for this area Steamboat Gothic architecture. You can usually find this type of home in Mississippi. Mr. Douglas owned a 1,000 acre farm about 3 miles from this home and had all the hardwoods cut from that farm, transported to Nashville to be milled and hand carved, and then brought back to this home for installation. His grandfather was one of the area’s earliest settlers.
