Dement House Began as Log Cabin

This beautiful and historic home is the Dement House located off Cainsville Pike in Lascassas, Tennessee. This home was originally built around 1817 as a log cabin by Abner Dement who was an integral part of the formation of Rutherford County in 1803. After Abner’s death, his brother John and wife Christine hired Arch Hite in 1833 to turn the cabin into a two-story house with portico. The original log walls remain inside the additions. This home has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986.
