Italianate style homes were primarily built in the US between 1840 and 1885. It may shock you, but the style originated from Italy. Yes, yes. No one would have ever guessed that. But they are derived from Italian villas and farmhouses that dotted the landscape there. You can usually spot an Italianate by the characteristic cornices and crowns over the windows and doors. And of course those projecting eaves and large brackets spaced along the roofline.
This is a Springfield, Tennessee Italianate.
