Tomlinson Johnson House, Savannah

It’s time to get purple up in here, y’all. Puuuuuuurple and gorgeous. The Tomlinson Johnson House in Savannah was built in 1888 for Tomlinson and his wife, Emma.

Tomlinson was the son of a Georgia governor, Hershell V. Johnson. He was a clerk in the US court for the southern district of Georgia, a three-time collector for the Port of Savannah, and a prominent republican politician.

The house was built for a total of $10,000. It has 12, TWELVE, fireplaces. In 1940, it was turned into a boarding house where men lived on the top floors and women lived on the bottom floors. It was remodelled in 1975 and eventually turned into a bed and breakfast in 1997.

Today, this is the Amethyst Garden Inn. It’s referenced each year as one of America’s finest inns. They serve a full southern breakfast to guests and it’s located on one of Savannah’s most gorgeous streets!
