The Glenmore House, in Hattiesburg, was built in 1890 for a druggist named John H. Bertrand. In 1896, it was purchased by J. P. Carter, who was Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi in 1903. He was also the president of Hattiesburg National Bank of Commerce.
This was the first brick house ever built in the city and the only Italianate-style house in the district.
