The DeLaigle House in Augusta, Georgia was built in 1873 for Mary Clark DeLaigle, widow of cotton broker and Confederate veteran, Louise DeLaigle. It was constructed by master architect, William Henry Goodrich.
Mary is known in Augusta folk lore as the subject of the last duel ever fought in this area. Charles Dawson Tilley, her tenant, challenged George Ratcliffe to a duel in order to defend her honor. Tilley was fatally wounded during the 1875 duel and later died in this home. (Info from historicaugusta.org)
This home is now office space and located in the Greene Street Historic District of Augusta.
