This is the First Methodist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. The first little frame building for its congregants was constructed in 1822 and was later replaced by a much bigger building. That building burned to the ground during the Civil War. It’s said that the troops built fires on the church’s old wooden floors to cook their food. After the war, the Methodists immediately began rebuilding and finished the present structure in the spring of 1867. It’s a beauty!
